When I was in third grade, my dad gave me my first camera as a birthday present. I took it on a field trip to the zoo and felt like a bigshot wildlife photographer taking pictures of all the animals, only to be sorely disappointed when I got the pictures back from being developed. I was so upset to see that everything was so far away in the pictures! That was my first photography lesson—you’ve got to get close to your subjects.
My dad worked in the banking industry, but he had a passion for photography and a strong artistic nature. He was always giving me cameras and would take my film to get developed. It was the way that we bonded. When he passed away a few years ago, I inherited all of his camera equipment. I discovered, among other treasures, hundreds of slides shot in the 1950s. I’ve since gotten some of them printed. My favorites depict mid-century Manhattan street life frozen in time and preserved in Kodachrome.
The road that brought me to Reed Art & Imaging in 2015 included an Art History degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and internships at East Coast contemporary and fine art museums. I’ve always appreciated art, but studying art history gave me a depth of understanding and appreciation for what a huge part art plays in social structure.
I also developed strong management and service skills along the way having pursued opportunities in the sustainable and organic food and farming industry. But, I always found ways to stay behind the camera, using my skills to document special events and promote those companies through visual marketing and social media.
Now, at Reed, I’ve been able to blend all three of those worlds into one great position as Guest Services Manager. I love that my passion for photography, my art background, and my customer service skills are all put to good use helping Reed clients. It’s so cool seeing so much beautiful work pass through this place and witnessing the excitement when our clients see their art printed. There’s nothing better than helping someone get just what they were looking for and hearing them say, “Now, that was easy!”

I fell in love with photography as a small child and haven’t looked back. As a kid I moved around a lot because of my father’s career and keeping in touch with friends was big for me. I began self-publishing monthly newsletters to mail to my friends, which eventually turned into photographing for my junior high and high school newspapers. I was also publicity director for my high school’s drama club as well as historian. I LOVED making newsletters and capturing the club’s memories. I went on to college at Arizona State University where I earned my BA in 2004 for Fine Art with concentration in Photography. During college I worked for the college newspaper The State Press as a photographer gathering campus news. During and after college I apprenticed with wedding Photographer Kerry Allen where I learned a lot about portrait photography and eventually worked my way up to studio manager and lead photographer. During this time I started working with a company that traveled to daycares all over Arizona, California and New Mexico, which gave me the opportunity to make my life long dream of moving to California come true. This is where I chased an LA band, auditioned for a reality show competition for photographers, and biked to the beach to photograph surfers. I fell in and out of love with California daily.

Six years later, my dreams changed and I decided to follow in the footsteps of my family and move to Colorado. I was the last of my immediate family to move here. Here I continued my career in portrait photography at a locally owned studio until I discovered Reed Art and Imaging. I joined the Reed team in June of 2015 as a Guest Services Representative. I love helping customers take their images from raw files to art that can be displayed anywhere from their home, galleries, or businesses for a lifetime to come.

On the weekends you’ll find me photographing portraits, landscapes, wildlife, memories and making memories hanging out with family and my 2 dogs Crash and Lotus.

I am a Colorado native who loves being outdoors. If you can’t find me at work or school, I am probably exploring Colorado’s great outdoors. From a young age, I have always been interested in color and design and had dreams of becoming an architect in Denver. In high school, I discovered how much I loved to paint with oil on canvas. I studied art at Cal State East Bay and Adams State College and have continued to paint. I have had the joy of sharing my love of art with my son. Recently, I have found my grandfather’s old 35mm camera and discovered the art of film photography, especially photographing dilapidated Downtown Denver buildings. I am currently enrolled as a full-time student at Metropolitan State University of Denver studying Psychology and Biology. In August of 2015, I joined the Reed family as a part-time guest services representative. I really enjoy getting to know our customers and helping them with their creative processes. I love helping people turn their artistic visions into beautiful prints and works of art.
